About this file
This file is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract opportunity 140P8226Q0006 concerning the procurement of PUHO Metal Cantilever Storage Racks.
The project requires six individual, free-standing metal cantilever storage racks with interchangeable components designed for onsite assembly. Each rack must feature three levels including a base shelf, with arms adjustable along the column length and capable of supporting a minimum load capacity of 1,000 pounds per arm. The racks are single-sided and will store one item per level. Acceptable arm lengths include both 30-inch and 36-inch options, with 36-inch arms approved as a substitute for the specified 30-inch arms. Components include 2.5-foot columns and bases compatible with both 2-foot and 2.5-foot arms, with fixed end lips approximately 2 inches high. The racks will be mounted to wooden flooring with a thickness of 1.5 inches with no concrete subfloor or steel reinforcement beneath. Regarding finishes, galvanized coating is not acceptable; however, enameled paint is approved as an acceptable substitute for the originally specified powder coating. Since the racks will be used in an indoor environment, powder coating warranties regarding flaking or bubbling concerns are acceptable provided the racks perform adequately indoors. No exact CAD drawings or layout plans are available for the configuration, as the design build will be completed onsite using the interchangeable components provided.

Q&A for 140P8226Q0006 PUHO Metal Cantilever Storage Racks
Q: Do you have any additional information on this project?
A: The components will be used to construct 6 individual/free-standing racks. As contained in the specifications, arms should be adjustable height along the length of the column, and columns, braces, and arms should be interchangeable for onsite design build.
Q: Will they be storing one item per level?
A: Yes
Q: How many levels high is the storage system required?
A: Three, including the base shelf.
Q: Should the rack be single-sided or double-sided?
A: The racks should be single-sided as indicated in the specifications.
Q: Can we offer with 36” long arms? We do not offer a 30” version.
A: Yes, 36" long arms are an acceptable substitute in lieu of the 30" arms quoted in the specifications.
Q: Can you please provide us the CAD drawing or layout to be able to design this configuration A: No, an exact layout plan is not available. The components will be used to construct 6 individual/free-standing racks. As contained in the specifications, arms should be adjustable height along the length of the column, and columns, braces, and arms should be interchangeable for onsite design build.
Q: The specifications indicate that the racks will be mounted to a wooden floor. Given the load capacity requirement (≥1,000 lbs per arm), could you clarify whether there is a concrete sub-floor or any steel reinforcement beneath the wooden flooring that should be considered in the rack base design and anchoring?
A: No concrete sub-floor, no steel reinforcement, wood flooring thickness 1.5"
Q: Do you have the rack layout and arm elevations for this project?
A: No, an exact layout plan is not available. The components will be used to construct 6 individual/free-standing racks. As contained in the specifications, arms should be adjustable height along the length of the column, and columns, braces, and arms should be interchangeable for onsite design build.
Q: Can you provide details on the wood flooring (thickness) from any plans, as they want a Non-standard attachment and anchoring?
A: Wood flooring thickness 1.5", no concrete subfloor
Q: Our Mfg can offer enameled paint or fully galvanized finish at additional cost. They do not offer powder coating, like our import products Mfg does.
A: Galvanized finish is not acceptable. Enameled paint is an acceptable substitute.
Q: Number of arms does not match number of 2.5' columns/base.
A: The specifications assume the 2' arms and the 2.5' arms are both compatible with the 2.5' columns/base. The number of arms and 2.5' columns/bases is correct as contained in the specifications.
Q: Fixed end lip or pipe stops? Lip/pipe stop height? How is it configured - number of rows + number of columns in each row + # arms per column?
A: Fixed end lip approximately 2" high; The components will be used to construct 6 individual/free-standing racks. As contained in the specifications, arms should be adjustable height along the length of the column, and columns, braces, and arms should be interchangeable for an onsite design build.
Q: Not sure we can warranty powder coat outside - powder coat will arrive without any flaking or bubbling- welds no problem. Is it acceptable?
A: Racks will be used in an indoor space.
