About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the replacement of two irrigation pump and motor assemblies at the Katherine Landing Drinking Water Facility within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project requires supplying and installing new pumps and motors that meet specific technical specifications: 10 HP, 3600 rpm, 3-phase, 460-230V motors; and pumps rated for 100 GPM at 200' TDH, NSF certified, with cast iron casing and bronze impellers. Contractors must ensure new equipment is compatible with existing variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and SCADA systems, and must maintain continuous water treatment plant operation during installation.
The contract (Solicitation Number 140P8125Q0018) is issued by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Pacific West Region, with a performance period from 05/12/25 to 10/15/25. Key requirements include installing pumps sequentially with 24-hour test runs, submitting daily progress reports, and ensuring no system downtime. The project site is located at Katherine's Landing Water Treatment Plant (coordinates 35.224018, -114.570688). A contract superintendent with 5 years of similar experience is required, with specific onsite availability conditions depending on whether work is self-performed or subcontracted.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area Scope of Work KL Irrigation Pump and Motor Replacement Lake Mead 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV
I. Description A. The purpose of this requirement is to replace two irrigation pump and motor assemblies located at the Katherine landing Drinking water facility. The pump/models identified below are examples of acceptable pumps. All proposed pumps must meet or exceed the specifications below. Work will take place at the following location:
Katherine Landing, AZ developed area.
B. The Work at Katherine Landing consists of the following:
1. The Contractor shall provide all materials necessary to complete the replacement of two irrigation pump and motor assemblies located at the Katherine landing Drinking water facility. The contractor will install new pumps and motors 1 at a time to ensure function before moving to the second pump. Submittals must be for exact pumps that are spec’d below or alternative pumps, motors must meet or exceed the specs below. If supplier chooses to submit a non-identical pump/motor combo that they believe meets the spec, the COR may opt to review the submittal prior to order but this is just for quality assurance and in no way absolves the contractor from conforming to the specification on this contract. New pumps must interface with existing electrical controls and plumbing assemblies.
2. The new pumps and motors must be installed one at a time and given a 24 hour test run before installing the second pump to ensure proper operation and to eliminate any chance of down time for the water treatment plant. Existing pumps will not be removed from the water treatment plant until new pumps have been tested and proven to work properly. Continued operation of the water treatment plant must be maintained throughout pump replacement. Switch over to new pumps will be scheduled with and observed by NPS personnel.
3. New pumps/ motors must be compatible with existing variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA).
4. New pumps and motors must fit existing plumbing connections and pump stands.
5. New pumps must be NSF 61 compliant for use with drinking water.
6. New pumps shall have sealed bearings and no grease zerks.
7. New pumps and motors do not need to be same brand but must be fully compatible with the existing system.
8. Contractor is required to submit at minimum a daily progress report, plan for the next day, before and after pics that assist in documenting the work process and progress.
9. Acceptance of pumps and motors will take place after installation and successful 24 hour test run.
10. No storage of pumps waiting for install will be furnished by the government.
11. Partial payments will be only considered for complete, successful pump installations.
12. Work includes associated mechanical joints needed, parts, fittings, thrust blocking, delineation, flagging, traffic control, trenching, grading, backfill and labor to provide a functioning water plant feed pumping system that satisfies the needs of the NPS water system as inspected and approved by the NPS Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
The replacement parts will include the following:
Motor Specs:
The current motor installed is a US Motors, Nidec Motor Corp. ModelC476 Motor ID# 04 7619654-0034 H 0003.
If not quoting a direct replacement, the following salient characteristics must be met:
1) 10 HP, 3600 rpm
2) 3 phase, 460-230Vv
3) High efficiency
4) Meets the EISA regulation requirements
Pump Specs:
The current pumps installed is a Peerless pump, 6LB 4STG, serial # 9927109900.
If not quoting a direct replacement, the following salient characteristics must be met:

5) The pump casing material is a minimum of class 30 cast iron. The bearing bracket supports are cast integral with the lower casing half for permanent alignment of bearings and all rotating parts. Bronze, renewable casing rings are doweled and shouldered in the casing
6) Cast bronze, one-piece impeller is hydraulically and dynamically balanced for vibration-free performance and longer bearing life. The impeller is keyed to the shaft for positive driving. Bronze impeller wear rings are securely fastened to the impeller and machined to close tolerances to permit minimum re-circulation of pumped liquid.
