About this file
This document is an amendment to a solicitation (Solicitation Number: 140P8124Q0085) for Intake Barge and CIP Pumps and Motors for the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, issued by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Pacific West Region.
The amendment provides answers to several questions submitted by potential contractors, including details on the existing equipment, pump/motor specifications, and acceptable substitutes. The solicitation due date has been extended from September 4th to September 6th, 2024 to allow contractors more time to prepare their quotes. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide new pumps and motors that match the performance and size of the existing equipment, interface with the existing electrical and plumbing systems, and be furnished from outside the park. No drawing of the existing intake barge pumps is available, but the specifications provide details on the required pump length, motor duty, and impeller trim.

Questions and Answers Q1: Do you have a drawing of existing intake barge pumps?
A1: We do not have drawings. Only what is in the specs.
Q2: On #4, it states total pump length is 12ft long. Is this overall size of pump or is this length from plate to bottom of pump?
A2: 12' from the plate down.
Q3: For the water intake barge motors, assuming this will see outdoor environment, do we need to quote severe duty on this or is standard duty motor fine?
A3: Just what is in the spec. It may be a good idea to add a quote with severe duty as an option.
Q4: For the water intake barge motors, does the motor need to be inverter rated?
A4: Does not need inverter rated.
Q5: For the CIP pump and motor, are other brands/products acceptable?
A5: Please quote any other parts as long as they are like/equal in rating, specs, etc
Q6: For the CIP pump and motor, what is the impeller trim?
A6: The only known info on the impeller trim that we have would be on the pump data plate we provided.
Q7: For the CIP pump and motor, does motor need to be inverter rated?
A7: Does not need to be inverter rated.
Q8: For the CIP pump and motor, does motor need to be severe duty rated or is standard fine?
A8: Motor needs to be comparable/equal to the specs.
Q9: What is the depth of the wet well?
A9: The intake barge sits on Lake Mohave at a depth of approximately 100'.
