Questions from Site Visit, March 3, 2022:
• When siphoning from leaching pad #2, what depth should you stop?
o Water level should be dropped as much as possible to ensure that the pregnant pond does not overflow. While there is not an exact depth to drop the water level; the 3 inch HDPE pipe in the leaching pad is approximately 40 ft into the larger culvert, representing the range that is feasible.
• How deep is the well near the pregnant pond?
o Wells at MSM include: 2 supply wells (both 450 ft deep) and 5 monitoring wells (ranging from 28 to 85 ft deep) o Three of these monitoring wells are located near the pregnant pond. Monitoring wells were drilled to bedrock. MW-3 is the monitoring well south of the pregnant pond; this well is 28 ft deep and dry.
• Will NPS provide equipment to siphon and measure?
o Generator and water pump are needed to create a siphon. NPS cannot provide this equipment.
• What were the original measurements/dimensions for the pregnant pond?
o 280 x 150 ft in plan dimension and 15 ft deep
• Can we put contamination signs up at the pregnant pond?
o Yes, MOJA will provide signs
• Will a list of bidders be released?
o No
Other amendments for Groundskeeper solicitation:
• Page 5: Text currently states, “When the water level in leaching pad #2 rises to 3-4 feet from the top of the pad, the water must be syphoned into the pregnant pond.”. This needs to be edited to say, “When the water level in leaching pad #2 rises to 8-9 feet from the top of the pad, the water must be syphoned into the pregnant pond.
