Water Testing Service – PIRO Questions and Answers listed below:
QUESTIONS:
Question # Question Answer/Response
1.2/11/22 We are a certified drinking water laboratory in the state of Virginia and we wanted to know if we had to be a certified drinking water lab in the state of Wisconsin for this contract. I don’t believe so because our method is an approved
EPA method and we would be a contractor at the federal level, not the state level, but we wanted to know before we prepared a proposal.
The laboratory would need to send their EPA certification documentation and number to verify they are a certified or the lab they are using is EPA certified. This is different then just using an EPA approved method. Bacteria samples received at the lab over the 30 hour hold time can’t be accepted for compliance purposes. The acceptable hold time prior to analysis for a nitrate sample is 48hrs after collection.
Nitrate/nitrite samples need to be at or below a specific temperature when received at the lab. Samples that do not meet the temperature requirement cannot be accepted for compliance purposes.
Samples received within 24 hours after collection will be accepted if they are packed in ice. Samples not on ice will not be accepted for compliance.
2.2//11/22 We are certified to complete presence/absence(P/A) testing for total coliforms/E. coli (TC/EC). We can also quantify
TC/EC but we are not certified for quantitation.
Is P/A testing the test that you want for TC/EC samples?
The water testing need is for present/absent for TC/EC in drinking water systems.
