Repair Water Storage System – CUVA Questions and Answers listed below:

QUESTIONS:

Question # Question Answer/Response 1.

Once the soil is removed away from the riser, can we lift it enough to re-seal it to the cistern by other/additional means stated in the Project Solicitation? Also, can the riser be fashioned to the cistern with concrete anchors to prevent separation again? The reason I ask is, either the riser has been pushed up from the force of freezing, or the cistern settled after installation and the riser was held in place by the piping going into it. It also could be from a combination of the two. I just think that once the soil is removed, we would be able to re-seal using a better method than grout and fabric backed tape, ie. tar?

Yes, the riser may be lifted during construction. Concrete anchors are acceptable as long as the top of the cistern is not penetrated and the concrete anchors do not introduce a path for water to enter the cistern. All other specified methods included in the Project Solicitation are still required.

2.

How far is the available stormwater infrastructure, for draining the cistern, from the riser access hole?

The nearest stormwater catch basin is approximately 120 feet northwest from the riser access.

3.

For clarity, only the (1) 1” modular sealing-element is being replaced?

Correct.

4.

Will the refilling of the cistern be at the cost of the contractor, or will that be supplied from the third party water service?

Refilling of the cistern will be at the cost of the NPS using a third party water service once all work is complete and accepted.

5.

Is there a non-potable water supply available for cleaning and pressure washing?

No. Contractor is responsible for providing necessary water for cleaning and pressure washing.

6.

For the 2” drain to be installed… For the drain to work properly, the 2” pcv needs to sit on top of the cistern. I foresee it being very difficult to core drill a hole at the bottom of the riser, and still be able to use a link seal system to properly seal it. Is it possible to notch out the riser to fit the 2” pcv and use another means of sealing?

Alternative methods of sealing the 2-inch drain will be considered. Proposed alternatives must be submitted and described in the technical questionnaire under the applicable question and will be evaluated accordingly during the technical evaluation phase
