About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a water treatment contract involving the replacement of Calgon Carbon Filtrasorb 400 granulated activated carbon media. The Q&A addresses two key contractor inquiries: hazardous material disposal and site visit access. Regarding disposal, the park has not conducted hazardous analyses of the existing media and places the responsibility on the contractor to verify landfill disposal compliance with applicable authorities and regulations.

The document includes a site visit photo of a water treatment plant in the midst of a rehabilitation project, showing GAC filter vessels with complex piping, red valves, teal-colored equipment, and a red ladder. A site visit map is also provided, indicating the geographic location of the facility at coordinates 40°21'48.2"N 105°33'31.4"W, which appears to be in Colorado. The image suggests the facility is currently an active construction zone, with multiple mechanical systems and infrastructure in various stages of installation or modification.

Questions and Answers

Question Answer Has there been any hazardous analyses of the existing media for disposal or is it clear to haul to the landfill?

Existing media to be replaced under this contract will be Calgon Carbon Filtrasorb 400 granulated activated carbon. The park has not conducted any hazardous analyses nor is aware of any hazardous materials classification of this material. However, it is the contractor's responsibility to verify with applicable authorities and/or codes and regulations that material is clear for landfill disposal

Contractor wondered if they could see the work site.

Yes, we can support a site visit. Understand the system is in the middle of a contracted rehab, so the water treatment plant is basically a construction zone. I have included a few photo's taken today of the GAC filter vessels in the water treatment plant.
