Questions & Answers 140P6324B0009 Mount Rushmore NM-Renovate Main Restroom
Update 5.30.24
Question 1:
Specifications pg. 42 08 11 13-2 PART 2 – PRODUCTS 2.1 HARDWARE B.
Government Answer:
The language of Brands and models designated in this Section are intended to define exact standards of quality function and design required. Substitutions will not be permitted unless given written approval by the Government is removed from Specification.
New Language:

Question 2:
Mechanical room, janitor room and closet do not have lights specified nor switching. There is no exterior lighting on prints.
The mechanical room, janitor room and closet are already lighted and will not be modified under this contract. No exterior lighting modifications under this contract.
Question 3:
Does everything need to be in conduit? To include Low Voltage. Specifically, the toilet sensors.
Yes, conduit is required per the plan sheet.
Question 4:
Is there a brand name or equivalent for the magnetic door locks?
Locks: Corbin-Russwin (Specified), Schlage or Best (Acceptable)

Question 5:
Power Plan: Do we need all the material to be BAA compliant?
Government Answer:
Yes, compliant with Buy American Act.
Question 6:
Will site fencing be required around the front of the building? If the contractor wishes to have security fence around the perimeter is there any specifications and maximum distance from the building that would be allowed?
Government Answer:
Site security is up to the contractor to provide per Div 1 specifications. A free-standing secured fence (sand bags OK) is required approximately 15 feet from the front of the restrooms.
Coordinate with the Facility Manager at Mount Rushmore.
Question 7:
The plans do not show a staging area for the project. Is it acceptable to use a portion of the gravel road behind the building while still maintaining emergency access on this road?
Government Answer:
Coordinate staging area with the Facility Manager at Mount Rushmore.
Question 8:
Will the parks service provide temporary toilet facilities for the public, or will that be required by the contractor? If the contractor must supply the temporary facilities is there a minimum number of fixtures required for this?
Government Answer:
Toilets: Public toilets are available at the nearby visitor center. No portable toilets will be required.
Question 9: Update 5.30.24
The plans have a note on Fire Extinguisher’s, but I do not see any location in the plans for them.
How many extinguishers are needed in each bathroom?
Government Answer:
Two fire extinguishers are required.
"Government requires a fire extinguisher cabinet (FEC) in Room 101, to the left of the drinking fountains, and another in Room 104, to the right of the drinking fountains. Mount at 48" above the floor to the top of the handle. FEC to be fully recessed, capable of housing a 10-lb ABC extinguisher. FEC to be brushed stainless steel, similar to Larsen model FS SS O-2409."
Question 10:
The restroom was not closed during the site walk. Can interior photos of both the men’s and women’s existing conditions be documented and supplied?
Government Answer:
It is the contractor’s responsibility under Div 1 specs to photograph existing conditions prior to start of the construction project.
Question 11:
Will the contractor be able to have a staging area at the facility? If so where will that be located?
Coordinate staging area with the Facility Manager at Mount Rushmore.
Question 12:
Will the gov. supply free access to the contractor / subcontractors / suppliers to gain access to the facility during the duration of the project?
Government Answer:
Yes, Coordinate with the Facility Manager at Mount Rushmore.
Question 13:
Page E5 places the exhaust fans and pumps P1 P2 in the electrical scope. Can you confirm if this is electrical or the mechanical scope. As generally exhaust fans and pumps are in the mechanical scope.
