QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
140P6223B0005 – HOSP Whittington Creek Retaining Wall
1. Is there a way to mark areas of work to be performed? At the site visit, contractors were told there was work that needed to be done in areas from bridge to bridge that were not marked.
A. At this time, the construction drawings are the means of identifying the locations to receive work.
Sheet C03 identifies the length of streambank for each segment coupled with sheet C04 which provides the northing/easting coordinates defining limits of segments to receive work. For site review purposes prior to submitting a bid, it is recommended the contractor use their preferred method of determining the lengths of streambank not receiving work between the dimensioned segments on C03. Method may include scaling drawing or electing to use GPS or surveying devise for greater pinpointed accuracy. For construction, it is expected that the northing/easting coordinates will be field determined by the awarded contractor.
2. Will the contractor be required to remove trees that are in the creek bank itself? Will they remain?
A. The contractor shall remove tree trunks, root systems, and miscellaneous vegetation that are in conflict with the construction details within the segments of streambank that are to receive work.
Identified trees which are in conflict with the work above the rim of the streambank have been removed to a stump height by NPS.
3. Will all permits be acquired by the Government?
A. NPS has applied for and will acquire the USACE Nationwide 13 Permit and Arkansas DEQ 401 permit approvals. Confirmation of permit approvals in place will be provided to the awarded contractor.
