Question #1: Can you please confirm how many tons are the air handler? During the site visit there was limited access to view the air handler located in the downstairs elevator closet. It was secured with a lock and no one had access to open the closet.

Answer: 2 tons – the unit only cools the elevator shaft, I’m not sure why it was installed in there nor why the unit is of the size unless the equipment room gets extremely hot

Question #2: Can you please confirm if an alternate refrigerant can be used other than 410a?

Answer: The most environmentally friendly refrigerants that have been in use in light commercial and residential systems for at least 5 years and is readily available will receive higher consideration than units with older refrigerants such as r410a since the EPA is phasing out r410a. For example, R-454B would receive greater consideration.

Question #3: Can you please confirm if there are any specific band preferences regarding the units?

Answer: If you are referring to “dead-band” which should be + or – 1 degree f. If you are inquiring of “brand” preferences, the units must be reputable, name brand, top of the line units such as Lennox, York, Carrier, among others.

Note: Any answers or clarifications that add to or change any information currently in the statement of work (SOW) will be incorporated before award. Acknowledgement of these answers demonstrates offeror’s receipt of updated info.
