The solicitation is seeking to procure and install two metal tanks per the specification requirements. The tanks are required to be constructed of carbon steel A-36, not stainless steel as initially stated. The tanks will be used to hold non-potable water. The contractor should verify the tolerance and capacity of the tanks to prevent cracks and leakages during water testing. Quotes for this 100% small business set-aside requirement must be submitted via email by the deadline. The National Park Service Southeast Region is the procuring agency.

QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES
SAN JUAN NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE – PROCURE TWO (2) METAL TANKS –
140P5424Q0022
Note: The following questions were received prior to the deadline for questions which was 05/17/2024 at 04:30PM EST as per the solicitation.
1. Contractor would like to confirm does this need to be stainless steel or carbon steel? At the top the stainless steel but then in the body of material is to be carbon steel A-36.
We need tanks to be carbon steel fully. We don’t need stainless steel at all, in any part of the tank.
2. What grade of SS material of fabrication 304 SS or 316SS?
N/A. We are not requiring stainless steel at all.
3. Will full H20 testing suffice in lieu of pneumatic as the tanks are open top?
We did not follow the question well but will try to answer. We understand that the H20 testing is related to the capacity and tolerance of the tank. For example, in the case of the rectangular tank, the artifact and the water solution weight are approximately 7400 pounds cannon carriage + water solution 16,000 pounds= 23,400 pounds. So, contractor must verify for the tolerance of the welding joints for both tanks to prevent cracks and leakages.
4. Are the storage tanks for potable or non-potable water?
Tanks are for non-potable water.
5. On the 8 x 8 x 3 square tank: General requirements require Stainless Steel for material, line “D” states all material to be carbon steel A-36? Same questions apply to the rectangular tank.
Yes, the requirement is carbon steel A-36 for both tanks, the square and the rectangular. No stainless steel is needed.
6. The requirements state the tank to be tested to 3PSI for primary tank, it is an open top tank, generally we fill with water and leak check. Same questions apply to the rectangular tank.
Correct, both are open tanks on top. Contractor needs to check for leakage before delivery. Same applies for rectangular tanks.
7. We would like to clarify whether we need to supply carbon steel tanks or stainless-steel tanks?
Just carbon steel tanks. No stainless steel.
