Amendments to the provided plans are as follows:
• Carriage size: use the section in the provided plans described for the “4-PDR.” to construct the carriages. Completed 6-pounder carriage size is referenced on “page 2” of the cannon carriage plans provided. See section labeled “left Cheek for 6-PDR Cannon #1655” within those plans for detailed measurements.
• 6-pounder Cannon: approximate cannon dimensions are provided on “Iron 6 pdr measurements.pdf”. Tube measurements are for general reference and should not be used for final measurements to fit carriages to cannon. Final measurements will require the contractor to carry out a site visit to confirm exact measurements. Care must be taken when fitting the cannon trunnions to the cheeks and cap squares of each cannon. These measurements will vary slightly for each of the five cannons.
• Cap Square Hinges: Spacing between hinge bolt and cap square hinges shall be no less than 1/8th of an inch, after all paint coatings are applied to the metal.
• Trunnion Iron: trunnion iron shall be placed on top of the cannon cheeks, do NOT countersink.
• Carriage Cheek kick plates: iron kick plates made to match the style and design of the kick plate shown in “6 lb. kick plate pic.jpg.” shall be placed at the rear of each carriage cheek.
• Axle Boxes: axle boxes shall be made from cast bronze.
• Axle Trees: axel trees must have shoes of 14-gauge sheet copper with 2D nails. This is to cover the friction area under the axel washers and trucks.
• Quoin: construct two quoins for each carriage. Quoins should be follow all measurements included in “Spanish Carriage Quoin Measurements.pdf” except length of quoin will be 16 inches not including the 6 inch knob handle.
