Castillo De San Marcos National Monument

Questions and Answers

1. Per Sheet G1, General Note 1, is the contractor responsible for any of the on-site Archaeological monitoring costs during the project?

Contractor is not responsible for the Archaeological Monitor required.

2. The plans discuss the need for a temporary water service during construction (Sheet

G1), however they do not show points of connection – can we leave the existing water line in service until we are ready for tie-ins? If not, where is the temp line to be tied-in?

All water connections will only be interrupted when final tie-ins are required. (At meter and at point of entry). No need of temporary water service as placement and boring of new service will and should not interfere with the existing water service.

3. When doing the tie-ins - How long can the system be down?

Existing Utilities will not be interrupted serving the facilities unless permitted under the following conditions.

a. notify Contracting Officer not less than (5) business days in advance of proposed utility interruptions.

b. do not proceed with utility interruptions without Contracting Officer's written permission.

c. maintain water service to the fort during visitor hours for the entire construction duration. Any water service shutdowns must occur outside of Visitor hours (9am to 5pm, seven days per week), unless approved by the contracting officer. Any water service shutdowns must be approved by the Contracting Officer with a minimum approved notice of 48 hours prior to shutdown.
