Questions/Clarifications for Solicitation 140P5323Q0002
Improve Footwells at Lost Colony
Date: 17 January 2023 Responses provided 25 Jan
1. The current proposal due date for this solicitation is Saturday 4 February 2023.
Will this due date be moved or remain as is?
ANSWER: Contracting to answer.
2. To achieve final completion and turnover prior to the date of 1 May 2023, our team of contractors has determined that a schedule of seven days per week at 12 hours per day will be required to remove the soil and replace it with stone. The current SOW for this project will be accomplished within the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday.
Will these extended workdays and hours be approved?
ANSWER: Yes, longer workdays would be acceptable up to the times of sunrise and sunset which may or may not be exactly 12 hrs. per day. Weekend work would be acceptable. Typical milestones and requests for inspection of contract work shall be scheduled during normal work hours 7 am to 5 pm Mon – Fri.
3. The current SOW indicates that the rubber be four (4) inches in thickness. The manufacturers have recommended a differing thickness of 1.5” – 2”.
Will the KO accept the manufacturers recommended thickness?
ANSWER: The Park will accept manufacturer’s recommendations for product installation after submittal of product data is given.
Is there a minimum rubber thickness the KO will accept?
ANSWER: Minimum thickness to meet 1 year of standard warranty with zero product failure.
4. The current SOW indicates that the footwells be backfilled with #3 washed stone. This stone is used extensively for railroad projects and can reach 2.5” – 3.0”. Based on the more consistent sizing of washed #57 stone the quality control management of maintaining the required thickness of the rubber will be manageable.
Will washed #57 stone as backfill be acceptable?
ANSWER: washed #57 will be acceptable as a replacement to #3 stone. This does not remove necessity for compaction of subgrade, compaction of #57 stone, or other preparation requirements by the manufacturer of the surface material.
5. This project will require a laydown area for a roll off dumpster and stone for backfill.
Can the contractor utilize the fire lane for a laydown area?
(Note: Acknowledge that the fire lane must be maintained to allow for access by the MFD.)
ANSWER: The fire lane shall keep a 16 ft lane clear. The laydown area adjacent to the fire lane in the existing clearing is acceptable. Approx. 80 ft x 20 ft is available for use. The wooden ramp between the fire lane and the Soundstage Theater cannot be blocked. The lay down area would only be allowed to be accessed from the paved access road leading to the fire lane.
6. Acknowledge the Lost Colony restrooms are under construction.
Can the contractor place a portlet at the fire lane?
ANSWER: Yes.
7. The rubber manufacturer has indicated that the rubber products must be stored in a dry area.
Can the pallets of rubber material be stored under the covered areas of the breezeways?
(Note: The pallets must be stored in locations that will not impede the contractor currently working on the restrooms.)
ANSWER: There is no enclosed space available for use. Storage of materials appropriately according to manufacturer’s storage and handling requirements is the responsibility of the
Contractor. The breezeways are accessible by small equipment with limited clearance vertically and horizontally. The breezeway could not be blocked by stored materials - a lane approx. 6 ft wide must be kept clear for passage of personnel not associated with this contract.
8. The Contractor will not be permitted to remove the seats to perform the work in this project
9. Acknowledge the requirement of weight tickets for the material removed from the site.
Should these landfill receipts include the waste from the rubber products as well?
ANSWER: Yes.
