About this file
This document contains questions and responses from a site visit for the Great Smoky Mountains NP Cosby Water Tank Replacement solicitation. The federal government is seeking to replace an existing water tank in approximately the same location at Cosby Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. During the site visit, a contractor asked if there was any information on rock excavation given the planned tank location, as the specifications referenced rock excavation but did not provide depth or location details. The government representative responded that based on observation of the existing slope cut, there did not appear to be any rock excavation needed, just possibly some boulders, and the excavation amount would be very small. Contractors were instructed to make their own determinations during the site visit and price accordingly. No other questions or responses were included in the document.

AMENDMENT-1
Great Smoky Mountains NP Cosby Campground Water Tank Solicitation, SOW, & Site Visit Questions & GOV Responses
1. Soils report- test borings- Section 02316 Rock Excavation states we are to excavate as required including rock excavation. How are we to estimate rock excavation when there is no information of its location, no depth to rock shown. I did not find it in the specifications
1. GOV Response: . It is proposed to replace the existing water tank in approximately the same location. The tank is being shifted slightly into the hillside, and based upon the existing cut slope, there does not “appear” to be any “rock” excavation – maybe some boulders (this is my observation, but not verified). The contractor can make his own determination at the site visit. The amount of excavation is very small, so the contractors can price accordingly.
