About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) clarification for federal solicitation 140P5126Q0027 regarding replacement of security fence and gates at the Maintenance/Law Enforcement Compound at Chickamauga Battlefield. The project requires removal of approximately 280 linear feet of existing chain-link fence with razor wire and installation of an 8-foot-tall ALEKO Commercial Steel Fence (SKU-SET2X4fence6x8CT-AP with 8x6-foot panels) in the same alignment. The work includes removal and reinstallation of an existing magnetic lock and keypad on a single 4-foot-wide by 6-foot-high personnel gate (with 8-foot total height including security top ridge), with an in-swing configuration. Fence posts must be buried in concrete 24–26 inches deep for the 6-foot base height. The existing coded security panel for the man gate will be reused; all other materials will be disposed of by the contractor unless the government arranges disposal. Contractors should provide separate pricing quotes for optional new coded gate systems and for both complete footing removal and abandonment-in-place alternatives.

The government will provide security during construction and handle removal of signs and other attachments except the security panel. The contractor is responsible for service interruptions if electrical connections require disconnection, with power company information provided at contract award. Asphalt repair is the contractor's responsibility; grass and gravel restoration is not. Daily site inspections will be conducted by the Contracting Officer's Representative to ensure proper execution and safety. A site visit was provided for field verification of dimensions; gate pictures are referenced in Attachment 0005. Contractors are encouraged to submit alternate proposals offering cost savings. The fence color will be approved by the NPS Project Manager, and the fence must match the design, shape, strength, and overall characteristics of the ALEKO style. Warranty periods for both the fence/gate system and contractor workmanship must be stated in proposals.

If an electronic access control system is required, please identify whether it will be Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) or Contractor- Furnished Equipment (CFE), including all associated hardware, wiring, programming, and installation requirements."
