About this file
This document is a solicitation for a sprinkler repair project at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The National Park Service requires a contractor to replace approximately 220 linear feet of deteriorated sprinkler piping within the Technology Museum, focusing on a vertical run pipe located behind an elevator shaft. The existing sprinkler system covers 1500 square feet with 25 sprinklers and a residual pressure of 60 psi.
The project scope includes removing damaged pipe sections, installing new compatible components, mounting piping securely, and implementing fire safety measures such as installing two layers of fire-rated 5/8" drywall. The contractor must complete the work within a 180-day performance period, coordinate closely with site management, and perform work primarily during normal business hours. Deliverables include pipe replacement, painting, drywall installation, system testing, and restoration of affected areas. The project emphasizes minimal disruption to museum operations and compliance with safety standards and building codes.
