About this file
This document is an Amendment (0001) to Request for Quote (RFQ) 140P4325Q0056 for the GEWA-Upgrade Sewer Lift Stations project by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Northeast Region. The amendment addresses five Request for Information (RFI) items related to the project's technical specifications, including wage determination, electrical shut-offs, coating requirements, heater replacements, and excavation details.
Key technical clarifications include: confirmation of local electrical shut-offs at each lift station, specification that metal surfaces will receive primer and topcoat paint, and instructions to replace existing wall heaters with 24-27 inch outdoor-rated infrared electric wall mount heaters. The amendment also provides guidance on excavation, specifying that soil should only be excavated to expose outside surfaces of the metal lift station sitting on top of the concrete effluent holding tank, with OBIC specialty coating to be applied to the interior surfaces of the concrete tank walls and floor.

RFQ 140P4325Q0056
Amendment 0001 RFIs 1-5
1. Wage scale provided in the solicitation documents is for Heavy Dredging, which is not applicable. Please provide the actual Wage Scale to be utilized for this project.
Response: corrected wage determination is attached with amendment 0001.
1. Please confirm local electrical shut-off to each lift station is possible at each station.
Response: Yes, there's an electrical shut-off for each lift station.
1. Base SOW calls for all metal surfaces to receive primer and topcoat of paint, however Option 2 calls for OBIC specialty coating but makes no mention of deleting the painting from base SOW. Please advise.
Response: Yes, all metal surfaces of the pump station will receive primer and topcoat of paint. Option 2 "OBIC Coating" is only to be applied to the interior surfaces of the concrete effluent holding tank's walls and floor. The metal lift station is sitting directly on top of the effluent holding tank, which houses the submersible pumps.
1. Heaters are present at each lift station, but SOW does not mention them. Should they be replaced? If so, can a basis of design be provided.
Response: Yes, replace the existing wall heaters in three (3) lift stations with Outdoor Rated - Infrared Electric Wall Mount Heater. Wire the new heaters into new circuit panels with dedicated breaker. New heater size should be approximately 24-inches to 27-inches long x 7-inches high. See link for example: Infrared Heater - Outdoor H-9311 - Uline
1. Shall the soil around the lift stations be excavated to allow for coatings to be applied below grade, or shall coatings only be applied to existing exposed surfaces above grade?
Response: Only excavate below grade to expose the outside surfaces of the metal lift station that sits directly on top of the effluent holding tank. Stop the excavation once you reach the top of the concrete effluent holding tank.
