2. ANSWER: Any inspections and permitting will go through National Park Service AHJ or their designee.
3. QUESTION: In addition to which governing body to go to for permitting, what exact permit should we applying for?
3. ANSWER: Any inspections and permitting will go through National Park Service AHJ or their designee.
4. QUESTION: The specifications state that all wiring is to be run in conduit, if this is the case it will be very invasive to the structure.
Is this facility considered historic? If so we would like to know for bidding purposes if MC cable could be run instead of EMT? We would be able to make smaller holes which would mean less patching and painting. Please Advise.
4. ANSWER: The park is going to stay with using EMT. We will not be using MC. Most of the work will be done in the basement above the suspended ceiling. We don't anticipate much drilling of the historic fabric because of this.
Most of the EMT will be attached to the underside of the joists.
5. QUESTION: Could you please confirm that the due date for questions(RFI's) is 4/23/21?
5. ANSWER: The last day to submit Requests for Information (RFIs) is Friday, April 23, 2021.
6. QUESTION: The drawings show a retractable cover for the top of the lift. This could raise issues with code, the enclosed full height lift would be the recommended model in this situation.
6. ANSWER: The cover is for weather protection when the lift is not in service. The cover will be operated only by site management when there is a need to use the lift.
7. QUESTION: A Fire Rated Door for the upper and lower landing would be recommended for an outdoor application due to the heavier duty construction and enhanced security locks.
7. ANSWER: It is presumed this question applies to the proposed full height lift, which will not be employed on this project.

8. ANSWER: Vertical dimensions are indicated in details C, D, and E on Sheet A4. Contractor must verify all dimensions in the field.
9. QUESTION: Has an Asbestos survey Been completed on the property? If so will it be made available?
9. ANSWER: An asbestos survey has not been done, with the exception of the artificial log in the fireplace which had been mitigated.
10. QUESTION: 01 11 00 - 1.7 B - Are there any known underground utilities on the property?
10. ANSWER: Yes, there are underground utilities. There is a gas line that runs under the front porch into the basement. The shutoff is on the sidewalk. There is no electrical underground (overhead only). There is drainage, not sure if you would call that utilities.
11. QUESTION: The panel schedule on Drawing E5 a
150-amp 2-pole circuit breaker labeled
"contactor" in the new 200-amp panel. What is its purpose and what controls it? It appears to be powering Panel B?
11. ANSWER: The contactor panel is a panel which has its power controlled by two three-way switches. One in the basement near the entrance door and the other one in the front closet on the first floor. Most every breaker in this panel provides power to the old historic fixtures. The idea is that these historic fixtures do not have to be manually switched off, prolonging the life of the fixture, and reducing a possible fire hazard. When the three-way switch is turned on/off, it energizes/de-energizes the panel. The other panel is a constant panel which means power is always fed to the circuits inside. Essential fixtures like alarm panels, heat cables, boiler etc. are in this panel.
