About this file

This is a Requests for Information (RFI) document for Solicitation 140P2126R0010 concerning ADA Ramps Installation at an INDE facility. The RFI addresses contractor inquiries regarding material specifications and delivery constraints for the project.

The document contains two primary questions and government responses. The first question addresses the 9-10 week lead time for the specified Ohio Gratings Stainless Steel bar grate BOD (7-SGSS-4; w/ SP4 ALGRIP surface) and proposes temporarily installing standard bar grating with substitution upon availability of the specified material. The government's response directs bidders to include recommended materials and substitutions that meet industry standards and minimum contract requirements, with technical acceptability to be determined by the Government. The second question seeks clarification on the Type 304 stainless steel specification for exterior applications, noting that Type 316 is typically used in such applications and requesting confirmation of the specification. The government's response indicates that the stainless steel alloy specification will be removed from Attachment C and that the government is soliciting material and fabrication methodology recommendations from bidders through the Contract Pricing Form and Required Shop Drawings. The government characterizes the provided materials list as a point of reference and project estimation rather than a rigid requirement.

Requests for Information (RFI) for Solicitation 140P2126R0010: INDE – ADA Ramps Installation

1. The specified ADA ramp material is Ohio Gratings Stainless steel bar grate BOD (7- SGSS-4; w/ SP4 ALGRIP surface), this has a lead time of 9-10 weeks. One option to satisfy the delivery/production schedule would be to supply standard bar grating and swap out when the specified bar grating is available. This would result in a cost increase. Please advise.

Answer: Please include recommended materials and/or substitutions for that meet industry standards, as well as the minimum requirement of this contract. Technical acceptability will be determined by the Government.

2. … regarding the stainless steel alloy. It is called out as Type 304 stainless steel; however, for exterior applications we typically use Type 316. Could you confirm this? If you do want the Type 316, I would need to confirm with Ohio Grating that the grating at the ramps can also be Type 316. If not, everything else could be.

Answer: The government is looking for solutions to provide on materials and fabrication methodologies to incorporate the requirements set forth in the Scope of Work. The list of materials and quantities should be seen as a point of reference and an estimation of project needs. Through the Contract Pricing Form and Required Shop Drawings, the government is soliciting recommendations from bidders. That specification will be removed from Attachment C.
