About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for Solicitation 140P2125Q0142, providing clarifications on technical specifications for a forensic computer workstation. The Q&A addresses two specific inquiries: first, confirming that the preferred CPU is the Intel Xeon w5-3535X with 20 cores, 40 threads, and 4.8 GHz speed, which exceeds the minimum specifications; second, clarifying that while a USB 3.0 SD forensic card reader is acceptable, a Tableau T356789iu or Logicube write protect bay with multiple interface capabilities (USB3.0, SATA, SAS, IDE, Firewire 800, and PCIe) is specifically required for the workstation.

Questions and Answers for
140P2125Q0142
1. First, regarding the CPU, the model listed “Intel Xeon w5-3535X” has 20 cores and 40 threads and a higher speed at 4.8 GHz compared to the listed minimum specs of 16 cores/32 threads and 4.7 GHz. I wanted to confirm whether that specific model was preferred or whether the cheaper 16 core model, the w5-3525, is preferred since it would be less?
Answer: The higher speed 20 core 40 thread 4.8 GHz is preferred.
2. USB 3.0 SD forensic card reader is mentioned under peripherals. Is this intended to be just an external device attached via USB or would this need to be an option installed in one of the front bays? I’m assuming external attached via USB, but I wanted to confirm.
Answer: The USB 3.0 forensic card reader is not required but acceptable if it is included. A Tableau T356789iu or Logicube write protect bay with USB3.0, SATA, SAS, IDE, Firewire 800, and PCle is required.
