Structure drawings are for design-intent only. Contractor shall determine and engineer final fabrication details, which shall fulfill the required function while honoring the appearance of the drawings and provide shop drawings for approval by COR.

Graphics shall be printed on solid 0.080” thickness heat-treated aluminum providing minimal expansion or contraction in temperature extremes and resistant to corrosion and deterioration over the required life of the sign. Other applications, like pressure sensitive, adhesive-backed vinyl or laminates are not acceptable.

Panel edges must be slightly eased and sanded smooth to avoid sharp edges and allow for improved graphics adhesion. All corners are to be rounded to a 3/8” radius.

The base aluminum panel shall be coated on all sides to form a protective barrier and for graphics adhesion. Printing shall be 4 color process using UV resistant inks applied directly onto the coated aluminum. Printing must be at or above 300 dpi. Ink saturation must be uniform with no streaking.

Individual passes of the print head shall not be visible.

Panel edges and backs are to be painted or otherwise treated to match PMS Warm Gray

2. There is to be no bare aluminum exposed on signs once installed to posts.

Panel backs are to be labeled with a removable sticker displaying the panel’s corresponding drawings number.

Printed graphics shall be protected with top coating(s) displaying a matte nish and containing UV inhibitors to protect graphics from fading and resist vandalism. Protective coating(s) shall be fused and bonded with the graphic inks and base substrate using a thermal curing process to form a durable hydrophobic barrier, protecting the graphics from grati, salt, moisture intrusion, extreme weather and temperature changes, as well as serving as a rst defense against vandalism.

The sign surface shall facilitate easy removal of grati without damaging the sign’s surface when utilizing the recommended grati removal process.

The sign panels shall be highly durable with a minimum 2-year warranty covering fading, cracking, peeling, blistering, and/or delamination. There shall be no warranty requirement for an annual application of a water sealant and no exclusions for extreme weather temperatures.

All sign panels shall be manufactured in the United States.

The contractor must supply all mounting hardware. Panels will mount using one of the following 4 mounting systems: mounting holes and hardware to mount to existing structure, mounting holes and hardware to mount to Corten steel sign post (contractor to supply post), VHB tape to mount to existing structure, or cleats mounted to the panel back to mount to existing structure.

Panels that require mounting holes shall receive 1/4” mounting holes in the locations shown in drawings. Hole locating marks should not be printed on panels.

Panels to mount by VHB tape shall have tape applied to the panel back by the contractor.

For signs requiring cleat mounts, the contractor will design and fabricate the cleat mount and supply all necessary hardware.

Hardware must be stainless steel. Cleat to be powdercoated to match PMS Warm Gray 2.

Hardware must not pass through panel front for cleat-mount signs.
