# Questions Answers

Do the Horizontal bars on the vehicle gate line up?

Yes, very closely - need to align so that hardware and locks operate properly.

Have the gates ever been removed? Yes, at least once when they were removed from the historic stone post and rehung on the metal post.

Do the gate lock receiver holes need to be functional?

Yes. All gate hardware needs to be fully functional. The receiver holes need to align and receive the new cane bolts.

The scope says pedestrian gates, are they included?

No, pedestrian gates be removed from the scope of work.

5 Do the gate posts have lead?

Yes. A swab test in the field on the gates came back positive for lead - the conractor should verify and protect workers appropriately.

Since the gate posts aren't being removed, do they need to be stripped?

No, loose paint removed and sanded and painted , should test for and /or assume they have lead paint as well.

There are significant variations in the qualities of paint, and their costs, will you ensure that any proposed equals are in fact equal and not a substandard paint based off of your spec?

Yes.

If finials are loose, should they be secured?

Should they be tacked with weld?

Yes, the loose finials should be secured to spindles with a weld on the interior side similar to those on the on the fence panels.
