QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. What about potential damage or liability when core drilling pole holes through the rock slabs.

A1. The slabs are not historic and are 6” thick. Drilling should be done by a qualified mason with the appropriate well-maintained equipment.

Q2. Have you had this done before? Just seems like they are frail typically and what approach we can use if it's been done, and if replacing any that are damaged during install is an option?

A2. If any stones are damaged, they can be replaced by the contractor. Stone was a buff sandstone 6” thk.

Q3. Is the cracks and the desired compound you want us to use?

A3. The original joint material for the seatwall cap failed as they lacked any type of backing material and the sanded grout migrated due to gravity/erosion. We would be looking for either a cement based mortar or a non-shrink caulk to match the mortar in the veneered wall. Contractor shall supply a submittal for approval.

Q4. Is there a sufficient caulk we can use?

A4. See above.

Q5. Wanting this grouted? Just some application type clarification please.

A5. The drilled holes should be grouted with a lightweight non-shrink grout to match adjacent mortar.
