About this file
This document is an Amendment (Amendment #0001) to Solicitation #140P1525Q0122 for a Caterpillar C15 Generator in-frame rebuild at Halls Crossing. The amendment includes a questions and answers section that provides critical details about the generator work. Key details include:
The generator is a Caterpillar LC6 model (Serial Number XG5BX2T34) manufactured in 2014, with a generator serial number of T4A00830. The rebuild will involve an in-frame engine repair, with the oil pan already removed due to previous cylinder sleeve seal failures. The National Park Service desires the rebuild to be performed with flexibility on location, though the contractor will be responsible for disconnecting and transporting the generator. The work site has a large garage door and an available gantry crane to facilitate the rebuild process. The period of performance is from 06/30/2025 to 08/15/2025, and the solicitation is issued by the NPS Intermountain Region - Arizona MABO office located in Flagstaff, AZ.

Halls Crossing - In-Frame Rebuild of CAT C15 Generator
Questions and Answers listed below:
QUESTIONS:
Question # Question Answer/Response
1. To better assess the scope of work, could you kindly provide a photo of the generator’s data nameplate, specifically showing the serial number and identification number of the C15 Generator?
Photos below
2. Would you prefer the rebuild to be performed at our certified CAT workshop or on-site at your location?
The location of the work it doesn’t really matter except to say that we do not have the ability to disconnect the generator or load it onto a truck so that would be the responsibility of the contractor.
3. We’re trying to determine if we can drop the oil pan between the frame rails to get to the bottom of the engine or if the engine would need to be pulled.
The oil pan is currently off of the engine. It was removed to diagnose that the cylinder sleeve seals had failed and we decided it would be better to rebuild the engine instead of chasing down individual problems.
4. Other questions we would have, is there a roll up door (garage door) on the building that the generator is in or is it just a man door? The reason I ask is, knowing if we can back a truck in and use our crane would make a big difference as to having to bring and set up a gantry.
There is a large garage door directly in front of the generator. There is also a gantry crane inside the generator building that is available for use.
