About this file

This document is an Amendment (0002) to a federal solicitation for a road maintenance project at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GLCA). The amendment addresses specific technical questions about a chip seal project for the Wahweap Overlook Road, providing clarifications on emulsion type, aggregate specifications, and application rates. Key details include:

The National Park Service (NPS) will be responsible for pre-cleaning the deteriorated road. The chip seal will use CRS/2P emulsion, with both application courses using 1/2" chip aggregate. Application rates are specified as 0.50 gal/sy for the first course and 0.38-0.40 gal/sy for the second course. The project is located in a remote area, and the amendment reflects adjustments based on contractor questions about material availability and application specifications. The solicitation number is 140P1525Q0120, with the contracting officer Taylor Jones contactable at Taylor_A_Jones@nps.gov.

Questions and Government Responses listed below:

QUESTIONS:

Question # Question Answer/Response

1.

What emulsion is being requested, any requirements for test results would be helpful.

Comply with PMCRS in FP-14?

Emulsion will be CRS/2P

Not necessary to comply with

PMCRS in FP-14 Low traffic road

2. Due to lack of suppliers in the remote location please consider changing aggregate for both chip seal courses to ADOT High Volume (1/2”)

Both applications can be ½ chip

3. Who will be responsible for pre-cleaning of the deteriorated road?

NPS

4. Depending on question number 2 answer, the application rates for the emulsion are too low and will result in a failed chip seal. We suggest requiring application rates on 1st course to be .50 gal/sy and .40 gal/sy on the 2nd course.

Application rate will be.50gal/sy on

1st course, and .38-.40 gal/sy on 2nd course mailto:Taylor_A_Jones@nps.gov
