About this file

This is a Questions and Answers amendment (Amendment #0001) for solicitation #140P1525Q0035 issued by the National Park Service Contracting Operations - Central for replacing a fuel island and tanks at Chiricahua National Monument (CHIR).

The Q&A clarifies several key technical requirements: the existing concrete pads will be reused and no demolition is necessary; all tanks are above ground (contrary to a statement in Section 4); the park will reduce but not completely remove fuel from the existing tanks (less than 20 gallons will remain in each); there are no contaminated soils or concrete to address; the existing slab is one piece and will remain for the new tank installation; and one dual-sided dispenser is required with gas on one side and diesel on the other. The document confirms the existing tanks to be removed are 1000-gallon steel tanks. The amendment does not change any other solicitation clauses or dates.

Questions and Government Responses listed below:

QUESTIONS:

Question # Question Answer/Response

1. Are we supposed to demo the two existing fuel tank pads and dispenser pad and install 1 new pad? The SOW does not specifically state to demo these items but section 5, paragraph 6 says concrete pads are to be 8” with rebar

12” oc and there is a spec for new concrete. Please clarify.

The existing pads are to be used.

We can take these lines out of the

SOW. New tank should be designed to fit in the current footprint. No demo should be necessary.

2. Section 4, paragraph 1.a says the existing tanks are underground but everywhere else talks about above ground tanks. Please clarify.

All tanks are above ground. We can remove this statement.

3. Will the NPS have all fuel removed from the existing 2 tanks?

No, there will be residual fuel remaining. Park will reduce the amount of fuel in each tank.

4. How much sludge/residual fuel are we to assume are in each of the two tanks?

There may be a small amount of fuel in each tank less than 20 gallons in each.

5. Are we to assume there is no contaminated soils or concrete?

The scope is not dealing with contaminated soils or concrete.

6. Since there are two existing tanks and we are now only installing one each two-compartment tank, what is to be done with the old concrete slab from the second tank?

The existing slab is one piece and is to remain for the installation of the new tank.

7. Section 5, paragraph 12.a calls for a dual sided dispenser. Does this mean you want one dispenser with gas on one side and diesel on the other? Or do you want two dispensers, one dispenser with two gas lines and another dispenser with two diesel lines?

One dispenser with one gas and one diesel.

8. Size of tanks to be removed 1000 gallons each steel tanks mailto:Taylor_A_Jones@nps.gov
