About this file
This is a Questions and Answers amendment (Amendment 001) to solicitation #140P1525Q0018 for aggregate purchase and delivery at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, issued by the National Park Service's Contracting Operations - Central office in Washington, DC.
The document addresses two specific questions: 1) Delivery location clarification for 130 Maintenance Road, Page AZ 86040, which can be found by asking the gate guard at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area's main gate, and 2) Clarification about "Chat Rock" specifications, which is defined as fragments of siliceous rock (limestone or sandstone) that is smaller than pea gravel but larger than sand, used for drainage and leveling purposes. The amendment notes that no other solicitation clauses or dates were changed, and provides contact information for Contracting Officer Taylor Jones.

(1) When searching for location for delivery to: 130 Maintenance Road, Page AZ. 86040
Not able to find location in Google maps. Are there cross streets that can be provided or GPS pin location?
GPS is the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and ask the gate guard where it is. It is located right off the main gate.

Some questions from aggregate sales contacts have asked about further definition of "Chat Rock". Since the scope of work statement includes "millings" in description - there is some confusion about whether this is asphalt millings. I don't believe so since generally chat refers to a fine gravel-like material composed of small fragments of siliceous rock - but clarification of specs for chat rock would be helpful. Is there a gradation or other spec that needs to be met on chat material?
“Chat” is a term for fragments of siliceous rock. It is smaller than pea gravel, but larger than sand, and will more easily settle and stay in crevices. Chat is created in the process of mining and screening fine washed sand. It can be used on its own or as a base for patio pavers or flagstone. It is a finely crushed rock that provides drainage but will also allow for leveling.
It is not asphalt, but is Limestone or sandstone.
