Amendment 0001 dated 2/9/2021

1 What permits will have to be pulled and with what entities?

No external (third party) permits are required for this project. However, internal permits, such as a hot work permit, may be required. Refer to section 15 of the scope of work for additional detail.

The ductwork on the north side is approximately nine inches into the dirt which has caused it to rust out (see picture attached). If we remove and replace the ductwork, it will just rust out again and also it is against code to have ductwork set directly on dirt. A solution we have utilized in the past is to dig down one foot between the wall and the unit and do a concrete trough that is 12 inches deep. Does the National Park Service agree with our proposed solution or do you propose a different solution? If so, what would National Park Service’s solution be?

NPS concurs that the International Mechanical Code (2018) section 603.14 requires that ductwork not be within 4 inches of the earth unless ductwork is approved for underground use in accordance with 603.8. It is not NPS intent to specify approved underground ductwork material for main connections between the new packaged unit and existing mains in the sub-floor space. NPS will accept the Contractor proposed solution to eliminate earth contact. Therefore, please ADD the following:

Key Note 1, SK-3, Appendix A

“Contractor shall replace existing ductwork between the existing package unit and existing mains at the building sub-floor space. Contractor shall resolve existing earth contact issue. An acceptable approach to resolving this issue is to provide limited excavation adjacent the existing subfloor space and place concrete as necessary to provide ductwork clearance from the earth in accordance with the International Mechanical Code. Contractor shall provide sketches of proposed excavation and concrete prior to work taking place on site”

Scope of Work, Section 16, New Item 14

“Provide sketches/details of proposed work to resolve earth contact issue with ductwork”

We need to know what color for door grills? Finish options shall be submitted with product data in accordance with scope of work section 16 9 d. NPS will select the finish option during the submittal response.

On the ac schedule it lists new NEMA 3r disconnects, but there is rain tight breaker panel with breaker at each unit, is ok to re-use the existing NEMA boxes?

REVISE Scope of work section 5.1 I 5 to the following:

“Retain existing NEMA 3R breaker enclosures.

Replace existing breakers as required to supply new unit. Replace existing conductors and flexible conduit from enclosure to new units. Conductors shall be as required by unit manufacturer and referenced standards.”

REVISE Key Note 3, SK-3 and SK-4, Appendix A to the following:

“DEMOLISH FLEXIBLE CONDUIT AND

CONDUCTORS FROM EXISTING UNIT TO EXISTING

WEATHERPROOF BREAKER ENCLOSURE. RETAIN

EXISTING WEATHERPROOF BREAKER ENCLOSURE.

REPLACE EXISTING BREAKERS AS REQUIRED TO

SUPPLY NEW UNIT. PROVIDE AND INSTALL NEW

FLEXIBLE CONDUIT, AND CONDUCTORS AND

CONNECT TO NEW UNIT.

It is scheduled for a test and balance from certified TAB company, but after seeing duct systems the only way to adjust air flow will be with the new OBD at registers and occupants can easily access and change, so I’m not sure it would be worth the cost of TAB company. Can this be excluded from the SOW?

TAB scope shall be provided in accordance with the scope of work.
