About this file

This document contains answers to questions about an existing playground resurfacing project at Grand Teton National Park. Key details include: the concrete curb around the play area is approximately 2 inches high; no on-site water supply but nearby hydrants are accessible within 225 feet; the play area dimensions are approximately 65 feet by 75 feet; the park will provide barricades and signage to cordon off the area during construction and curing; and the existing wood fiber surfacing depth is approximately 6 inches, though it was originally installed at 10-12 inches for a critical fall height of 10-12 feet.

The related federal contract opportunity is for resurfacing the Moose Playground at Grand Teton National Park, solicited by the Department of the Interior National Park Service Intermountain Region under number 140P1424Q0013. The document provides site-specific questions and answers to inform potential offerors for the contract work.

Moose Playground Resurfacing Questions Answered

1. How tall is the concrete curb that is around the play area?

The concrete curb is approximately 2" above the surface of the play area.

2. Does the job site have a live water supply?

There is no water supply directly on site, but there are a number of easily accessible hydrants in the vicinity. The closest is approximately 225' away. Location: 43.658528, -110.719145.

3. What is the length and width in feet ?

approximately 65' x 75'

4. Is there site security especially for curing on the PIP?

The park will provide cones and caution tape needed to block off the area during curing. The park will communicate with the residents letting them know they will not be able to access the playground during construction and curing.

5. What is the depth of existing mulch?

The depth of the existing engineered wood fibers is approximately 6". The depth installed was likely 10"-12" for a critical fall height of 10-12 feet, but it has compacted over time and has likely seen material loss due to normal use. No work has been done on the surface since it was installed in 2010. Due to existing environmental conditions (snow and ice), further investigation could not be completed.
