GUIDE TO ORDERING

Buried Fiber Optic (BFO) Series: Each unit consists of one (1) foot of buried single mode fiber optic cable in place, 18 to 24 inch depth. This unit includes all material and labor for installing and backfilling, with site restoration addressed elsewhere. Where the cable is plowed, ripping may be necessary to provide a ripped path to allow placement at the required depth, and may require more than one ripped pass. BFOD series are for multiple lines installed in the same trench.

The BFO and BFOD groups will be used for the 'last mile' to connect from optical splitters or main line splices to the home.

BFOD group are for multiple lines installed in the same trench.

The BFO X I series will be used for transmission. NOTE - The lines in this series INCLUDE THE CONDUIT INSTALLATION

Fiber Optic Splicing / Terminating Assembly Units (HO Series): Consists of all labor and material and/or testing necessary to complete a single fiber optic splice, complete a ribbon fiber optic splice using mass splicing, to connect fiber-terminated ports using patch cords, or to terminate one optical splitter pigtail (PON). The labor must include initial measurement, minimizing the attenuation, splicing and stowing the spliced fiber or patch cord/pigtail in a fiber organizer. The labor and material for the fiber organizer is part of the appropriate splice closure unit or fiber patch equipment. NOTE - The lines in this series INCLUDE THE VARIOUS EQUIPMENT (e.g. splice case, optical splitter, etc)

HO1 is for fusion splicing and splice testing. It is priced per strand (EA) HO1T is for bi-directional testing of complete cable assemblies. It is priced per assembled strand (EA) HO4 is for a complete splitter assembly, terminated, installed and tested. A splitter (1 x 2) would split from a single strand to 2 strands, etc HO4B is for a building mounted PON splitter enclosure. The enclosure will generally be exterior mounted, however, in historic areas, the enclosures may be located in a crawlsapce or basement.

HO4P is for a free standing PON splitter enclosure, painted brown. Color to be approved by COR.

Buried Fiber Splice Closure Assembly Units (HBFO Series): This unit consists of a buried splice closure installed in place. It includes the labor and material for setting up in preparation for installing the closure, such as, excavating a splicing pit, installing closure in a housing or handhole if necessary, opening the sheath or jacket of the cable, bonding of the cable shields, and closing the closure in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Cable splicing must be compensated under the appropriate splicing units. Splice cases are expected to be small size (Small splice case with up to two main ports and twosecondary ports that can accept two smaller main cables, two armored drop cables, or up to four flat drop cables. The largest fiber count cable this case will accept is 96 Fiber.)
Buried Handhole Assembly Units (BHF Series): Consists of labor and material for one (1) buried handhole installed in place, including the base, top cover and mounting hardware, and pea gravel. The handhole assembly unit will be used only in areas of non-vehicular traffic. Handholes will be 24 inch x 36 inch x 24 inch unless smaller size is directed by the COR.
Buried Plant Housing Stub Pole (BA 3 Series): This series consists of all labor and material for a stub pole in place. Pole to be buried to a minimum of two foot depth. All poles to be treated, round wood stub poles, 4" diameter, 8.0 ft total length.
Directional Boring: This series consists of two lines.

X1 is for mobilization of directional drilling equipment to the area of work, including pre-wash of equipment. This line is only used for mobilization to or between developed areas with more than one mile of separation.

BM60(1.25)D: Consists of one (1) lineal foot (0.305 m) of High Density Polyethylene Plastic pipe, with the inside diameter of 1.25 inches, installed in place. This unit includes the pushing of pipe and any excavation, backfilling and tamping necessary for the installation of the pipe. The installed pipe must be free of any sharp projections to avoid damage to the outer jacket of the buried cable or wire during its installation in the pipe. This unit includes all material and labor required in the repair and/or replacement of streets, roads, sidewalks, drives, fences, lawns, shrubbery, water mains, pipes, pipelines and contents, underground power and telecommunications facilities and any other property damaged by the excavating. The contractor will be compensated for labor and material for the buried cable under separate units. (BFO Series) User service equipment -for Fiber to the Home (FTTH): This series consists of several lines BM2: Housing Ground Assembly Unit - Consists of the necessary labor and material for the installation of a ground rod (installed in undisturbed soil), ground rod clamp and the required length of a bare #6 AWG copper ground wire connected to an auxiliary grounding connector (included in the housing assembly unit) within the housing BM 83: Buried Service Guard - Consists of a guard, including fasteners, mounted in place over the buried wire or cable and/or ground wire, as shown on the Construction Sheets. Materials to be either NPS brown powder coat painted EMT, or colored (brown or black) PVC. Will be used only with NID (2) 3 below.

Network Interface Device NID (2) 3: There are a variety of acceptable technical solutions that meet the service parameters. This line provides all equipment, connections, grounding, labor and materials to enable the broadband service for the end user from the terminated fiber cable at or in the end user facility (e.g. residence, etc). All interior equipment is acceptable. This includes a wireless router with 4 ethernet ports, and capable of supporting up to 250 connected devices.

Network Interface Device NID (7): There are a variety of acceptable technical solutions that meet the service parameters. This line provides all equipment, connections, grounding, labor and materials to enable the broadband service (access point) for the end user from the terminated fiber cable at or in the end user facility (e.g. residence, etc). This line will be used to provide service in campgrounds and Recreational Vehicle parks to provide broadband to exterior users. Wireless router to be 2.4 Ghz, with at least 1 Ethernet port, and capable of supporting up to 250 connected devices. This line also includes mounting the equipment on exterior walls or locations identified by the COR and connection to electrical power within 30 feet.

Site Restoration: This series consists of three lines.

REST1 is for site restoration of maintained residential lawns. Where required by installation, remove and set aside turf prior to excavation. Maintain turf and replace when complete.

REST2: is for cutting and restoration of asphalt surfaces. Asphalt will be saw cut cleanly and disposed of. Restoration will be hot mix asphalt priced per lot of 20 feet x 4 feet x 3 inches. Sawcut areas may be backfilled to grade temporarily with 3/4 inch minus aggregate to allow for consolidated asphalt replacement, with all hot mix work occuring for all sawcut areas by the end of the performance period. At no time will asphalt cuts be left open after 15 October.

REST3: is for restoration of open vegetation / open areas. For plowing: Using a rubber tracked piece of equipment, flatten the plow seam back to grade. Hand rake and remove stones greater than 2 inches. Stones may be locally scattered at the direction of the COR. For open trenches/excavations: backfill to about two inches above grade. Do not compact. Hand rake surface and remove stones greater than 2 inches. Stones may be locally scattered at the direction of the COR.

Wireless Network transmission Equipment: This series consists of three lines. There are a variety of tehnical alternatives that may meet the service parameters for broadband Internet / Dark Fiber Services. All equipment must be capable of transfer at 1 Gigabit per second rates, and meet the latency requirements of the base Scope of Work.

WTFPP is for 60 GHz wireless bridge equipment (point to point). This includes both equipment ends, connection to power within 30 feet, and mounting hardware for mounting to existing structures.

WTFPMP: is for 60 GHz wireless bridge equipment (point to multi-point). This includes both equipment ends (one base station and one subscriber), connection to power within 30 feet, and mounting hardware for mounting to existing structures.

WTFPADD: is for additional subscriber equipment and installation for WTFPMP lines.
