About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for BLM AK solicitation 140L6326Q0026 regarding CCSC AV Receptacles Install. The document addresses technical clarifications and administrative details related to the installation of audiovisual receptacles at a federal facility in Alaska.

For Room 128, the Government clarified that no accessible space exists above the hard-lid ceiling for concealed raceway routing, but contractors may route conduit through the storage room wall with an access hatch, or perform selective demolition and patching as acceptable alternatives. Contractors may also utilize existing openings such as light fixtures or cover plates if feasible. MC cable is permitted in lieu of surface-mounted conduit/raceway where code-compliant. For Room 116, rigid conduit (RMC) is acceptable as an alternative to flexible conduit. A duplex receptacle on the south wall must be mounted at 108 inches above finished floor (AFF), with an updated PDF drawing provided. The solicitation closing date is September 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM AKST. The project construction cost is estimated at less than $25,000. All amendments are posted at SAM.gov under solicitation number 140L6326Q0026, and award notification will be posted on SAM.gov. The BLM does not disclose the planholders or bidders list.

Questions and Answers CCSC AV Receptacles Install

For Room 128, the electrical contractor recommended concealing the raceway/conduit to preserve the room’s aesthetics:

o Question: Is there accessible space above the existing hard-lid ceiling that would allow concealed routing?

Answer: No. One possible means could be through the wall on the storage room side. Drawings do not indicate the wall type in this location.

o Question: If there is no existing access, would the Government permit a temporary opening to be made in the ceiling for installation, with the affected area subsequently patched and painted to match?

Answer: See note above, if the access would be easier through the storage room wall, then an access hatch in the wall is acceptable.

Other, selective demo and patch and patch are acceptable.

o Question: During the site visit, it appeared that a temporary ceiling opening may potentially be avoided by removing an existing light fixture or cover plate for access. Is use of an existing opening/access point acceptable if feasible?

Answer: Yes.

o Question: If concealed routing is acceptable, would MC cable be permitted in lieu of surface-mounted conduit/raceway where code-compliant?

Answer: Yes.

Question: For Room 116, the electrical contractor recommended using rigid conduit in lieu of flexible conduit. Is rigid conduit acceptable for this installation?

o Answer: Yes, RMC is acceptable.

• Question: The drawings show a duplex receptacle on the south wall, but the mounting height is not legible in the uploaded drawing. Please confirm the required mounting height AFF for this receptacle.

o Answer: 108”. A new PDF is attached.

Question: Confirm the bid date and time listed above are unchanged.

Answer: Solicitation closing date is unchanged at September 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM AKST.
