About this file
This document is a set of questions and answers addressing various aspects of Solicitation 140L6224Q0014 for the Miner's Delight Exclosure Fence Replacement project.
The key details are:
- The project requires the removal and reconstruction of approximately 3,900 feet of existing fence, including 900 feet of 4-wire fence, 1,250 feet of post-and-pole fence, and 1,900 feet of buck-and-rail fence, as well as several gates.
- The new fence construction will consist of 3,250 feet of 2-wire pole top fence, 350 feet of 3-wire pole top fence, and 550 feet of buck-and-rail fence, along with one large steel-frame gate, three wire gates, and two stile pedestrian walkthrough gates.
- The project site is remote, with the main staging area accessible by passenger car, but portions of the fence only accessible by ATV or on foot.
- No concrete may be used to set the fence posts; they must be tamped down with dirt from the area.
- All work must be completed between August 1 and October 31 due to wildlife timing limitations.
- A site visit is scheduled for June 11, 2024, and all questions must be submitted to the Contracting Officer.

Questions Addressed Solicitation: 140L6224Q0014 Miner's Delight Exclosure Fence Replace
1. For the 3,250' of 2 wire pole top fence, do you have a more detailed paper of this? It shows no depths for posts or height for fence top rail or wires going across.
a. Please refer to the attachment titled “Two-Wire Post and Pole Fence Drawing #1.” The letters in this drawing (A, B, C, H1) refer to measurements specified on page 11 of the Statement of Work under “Two Wire Pole Top Wildlife Friendly” and “Two Wire Pole Top All Barbless (Cemetery).”
2. For the " two stile pedestrian walkthrough gates" do you have a spec sheet on this or anything with a picture to show what you're looking for?
a. Yes, we are attaching a drawing and photo of the stile gate we want to use. We do not have a full spec sheet. The contractor shall construct the “pedestrian walkthrough” type depicted in the lower left of the attached drawing. There must be 24” clearance for pedestrians to pass through the opening. The construction we are looking for is essentially three stress panels oriented as depicted in the attached materials. Stile gates should be the same height as the adjoining fence. Posts should be 2 ft 6 inches into the ground.
3. Are we permitted to use any concrete to set the posts? or are they to be tamped with dirt from the area?
a. No concrete may be used. Posts shall be tamped down with dirt from the area.
4. Lastly, would you say we are able to get a skid steer around most of the fence to dig holes and help with removal of the existing fence?
a. Yes. There is a fire break cleared around the majority of the fence. As long as you keep equipment to within the fire break, you should be able to circumnavigate the fence. The contractor is not permitted to create any new roads or trails as part of this work. Also, remember, due to wildlife timing limitations, all work must be completed between August 1 and October 31.
