140L6220Q0085 Amendment: 0001

1. On the bid sheet there is listed a quantity for aggregate as square yards. What is the depth of this aggregate to be placed? The drawings just say varies on the depth.

The depth of the aggregate to be placed is the depth of the geo cell holes and the apron to on the ends to make a smooth transition for traffic flow.

2. In the specifications there is mentioned filter fabric and also geo-cell. There is a specification for 1 geo textile product. Is just woven geo textile being placed and then the aggregate, or is also geocell being installed?

The GEO Fabric as stated in the specification’s states “Geo-Fabric shall meet or exceed the requirements for Type III-B Geo Textile Fabrics.” Also, the “Geo Cell shall be HDPE with and overall nominal height of four (4) inches. Individual cell size shall be consistent with industry standards and placed directly on the Geo-Fabric and anchored in a manner as to remain open and in place for filling with aggregate and compaction.”

This is all in Section 1009 2.B and 2.C, And in the Section 02378 2.B and 3.2 A.

The bid schedule should have a place for the Geo-Cell as a LS and only one for the Geo-Fabric.

3. I also noticed the Bid Schedule show 8000 square yards of aggregate. The specifications say the crossing is about 385 ft long by 20 ft wide. This is 7700 square feet. Which is only 855 square yards. Is there an error somewhere?

Yes, the number should be 856 square yards, however, will need additional material to compensate for the varying depths and the flaring of the roadway. Also, the rest would be stockpiled and spread on the road.
