GAOA CDA Site Furnishings Replacement, Coeur d’Alene District Solicitation 140L2625R0007, Pre-bid Tour Notes

(Q)On page 5 of the site pics in mica (second photo). It shows the current fire ring sitting on the riser, and the riser appears to be on a large pad. Are we saw cutting a hole in the slab to install the ring? Of is it placed on top of current slab?
(A)Remove the round elevated pad under the fire ring at site #2 and site #4, including any concrete under the elevated pad, if present. Recommend saw cutting an approximately 48” x 48” square around the fire ring to be removed. Ensure there is sufficient room to install footings for new fire ring as required by manufacturer. Install the new fire ring footings and anchors in the concrete tubes per manufacturer requirements. After the fire ring is anchored – pour concrete to the same depth of the existing slab and tie into the existing concrete slab with 8 dowels (2 per side of square) up to the outside of the fire rings so there is a smooth transition between existing concrete and the new concrete slab around the new fire ring. Dowels shall be 1/4" smooth straight pins, 12” long, wrapped with 1/8” foam sheet material; embed 6” into existing concrete and secure with chemical epoxy grout. Fire ring installation must meet ABA requirements, ensure mounting height and surface repair follow ABA guidelines.
(Q)For mineral ridge. On the site pic page 9, and page 5 of the specifications page. One calls out for 2 dead heads, and the other calls out for 3. For the replacements. Just trying to clarify if its 2 or 3?
(A) Remove 3 deadheads/chains total and install 3 new deadheads/chains for the picnic tables. Specification 011000 1.2 A. 1 f was changed to 3 deadheads.
(Q) On a couple sites the ground could be solid rock. If we need to hammer out the dig areas, would change order be awarded to the areas needed?
(A)Will address if the contractor runs into a problem at the time if necessary.
(Q)Would we be able to have a local pre cast company provide some products. Such as the deadheads and some of the pads for the BBQs. We would share all specs from the manufacturer.
(A) Pre-cast concrete would be allowed as long as they meet manufacturer installation requirements and meet or exceed the salient characteristics of the cast-in-place footings and anchors as described in the drawings and specifications.
(Q)Concrete- spec calls for a 4,000psi 28day break test on the concrete. Are we required have a tester on site when we pour or provide cylinders with break test results? There was another note about having an onsite slump tester as well. I couldn’t see why we would need to supply all the extra testing and such for a non structural project. I wouldn’t have a problem with supplying detailed spec on what product we would be using.
(A)Remove 033000 3.17 from the specs – concrete testing will not be required.
