C.1 Four-Sided Scenic Backdrop—Geology Shapes Biology
!is is a continuation of the same four-sided scenic structure described in Area B.
Side #3 features a scenic cutaway view of a tinaja—a surface depression that "lls seasonally and supports a multitude of life. A magnifying glass shows a magni"ed graphic view of fairy shrimp. A re-created 3D prairie falcon nest with bird and eggs is perched at the top of the re-created sandstone cli$. At center, two species of lizard bask on the rock. A collared lizard (replica, life size) basks on a layer of sandstone or black basalt while a horned lizard (replica, life size, dark in color) is seen perched on the upper edge of the lava %ow. On the right of Side #3, a recreated cave (back recessed from front edge 18”) features graphic images of a number of species. A series of push bu&ons on the reader rail below lights up the species hidden in the cave.
