About this file

This document is an Amendment 1 to a Request for Quote (RFQ) from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for acoustic equipment. The solicitation requires 70 acoustic transmitters between 4.4-4.6g, with specifications including operation between 0-40 degrees Celsius, emission of 69 kHz ± 0.5% frequency, power output greater than 146 dB, optional temperature sensing, and compliance in fresh and salt water environments. Additionally, the procurement includes 8 acoustic receivers capable of detecting and storing tag detection records, with Bluetooth connectivity, autonomous operation, waterproof to 500m, and a 1-year warranty, along with 4 receiver activation probes to facilitate equipment configuration and data retrieval.

Text version

Required Acoustic Transmitter Specifications

Quantity = 70 transmitters between 4.4 and 4.6 g weight in air

Transmitters must be available in physical size configurations to allow maximum battery life to be selected for a range of fish sizes while adhering to a 2% tag to body weight ratio when ordering. Fish size classes will be greater than 350g and greater in air depending on transmitter selected for implantation.

Transmitters must operate between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius.

Transmitters must emit a frequency within 69 kHz ± 0.5%.

Transmitters power output must be greater than 146 dB.

Transmitters must be available with an optional temperature sensor with operating range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius with ± 0.5 degrees Celsius accuracy.

Transmitters must be both fresh and salt water environment compliant.

Required Acoustic Receiver Specifications

Quantity = 8 receivers

The receivers must detect, decode, and store millions of tag detection records to internal memory from 69 kHz coded acoustic signals.

Receivers must be autonomous, fully waterproof to 500m, and powered by an internal battery.

Bluetooth connection to receiver allows user to set receiver ID, clock synchronization, access to stored configuration, and viewing of real-time data feed via vendor provided software that provides a graphical user interface.

System noise, tilt, temperature, and signal strength are recorded in data file.

Programmable built in sync transmitter.

Operating temperature range of 0-50 ºC.

Parts and labor warranty of 1 year or greater.

Receivers must be both fresh and salt water environment compliant.

Required Acoustic Receiver Activation Probe Specifications

Quantity = 4 probe

Allows for activation of bluetooth connection to receiver for user to set receiver ID, clock synchronization, access to stored configuration, and viewing of real-time data feed via vendor provided software that provides a graphical user interface.

Operating temperature range of 0-50 ºC.

Parts and labor warranty of 1 year or greater.
