About this file
This Statement of Work outlines the U.S. Geological Survey's requirements for acquiring historical 2-D active seismic data from two specific ConocoPhilips seismic lines (P6339:1 and P6339:2, totaling 15.04 miles) across the Stillwater Complex in Montana. The data, originally from 1982, will be used to study critical mineral resources (platinum-group elements and chromium), geologic hydrogen potential, and carbon capture storage potential in the complex's mafic and ultramafic rocks.
The vendor must retrieve the data from ConocoPhilips and vectorize both lines to produce workstation loadable SEG-Y products. Deliverables include digital copies of both lines in jpg, tiff, or pdf formats, SEG-Y files, field tapes, and support data. The period of performance is from December 16, 2024, to January 30, 2025, with final delivery required by January 30, 2025. The data will be accepted if received in good working order and meeting the specified technical requirements.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. Introduction The U.S. Geological Survey Mineral Resources and Energy Resources Programs requires 2-D active seismic data from two seismic lines across the Stillwater Complex in Montana, USA. These data will contribute to ongoing research on the geology of the complex to constrain critical mineral resource potential (platinum-group elements & Cr), geologic hydrogen potential, and carbon capture and storage potential in mafic and ultramafic rocks of the complex.
B. Background
This request is to purchase access to historical seismic data (ca. 1982) to be used to examine the near surface geology of the Stillwater Complex buried under younger sedimentary rocks. The seismic reflection data can be used to map igneous layering in layered mafic intrusions like the Stillwater Complex. This data will increase our understanding the mineral and energy potential of the eastern part of the Stillwater Complex as well as provide information on the potential of these rocks to capture and store CO2.
C. Scope (state general purpose, objectives, magnitude).
The general purpose of acquiring this data will be to map the buried, but near surface geology of the eastern part of the Stillwater Complex. The mafic and ultramafic rocks of the complex host several critical minerals (e.g. platinum-group elements and Cr) and have potential to generate hydrogen or capture carbon during serpentinization reactions.
II. WORK REQUIREMENTS
A. Technical Requirements.
1. The USGS requires the processed active seismic data from ConocoPhilips lines P6339:1 and P6339:2 totaling 15.04 miles. The vendor must retrieve the data from ConocoPhilips. Both lines must be vectorized by the vendor to produce a work station loadable SEG-Y product. The vendor must provide us with a digital copy of the final processed data in either .jpg, .tiff. or .pdf formats as well as a digital SEG- Y file of each line.
2. The product and service will be accepted if the data are received in good working order and meet the technical requirements above.
B. Deliverables.
1. (1) Digital copy of line P6339:1 (.jpg, .tiff, or .pdf), SEG-Y file, field tapes, and support data; (1) Digital copy of line P6339:2 (.jpg, .tiff, or .pdf), SEG-Y file, and field tapes.
2. Delivery of data by January 30, 2025
