About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 140G0126Q0289, PR 0044039941, addressing clarifications on boat specifications and design requirements.
The document clarifies two key specification requirements for the solicitation. First, the heavy marine-grade aluminum hull minimum thickness requirement of 0.25 inches applies to the bottom only, not to the sides. Second, the solicitation requires a V-hull design rather than alternative designs such as square-bow flat-bottom configurations, even if those alternatives offer advantages like improved shallow-water capability (5-6 inches of water operation). The government specified the V-hull requirement based on the intended operational environment for the vessels being procured.

Q&A Solicitation 140G0126Q0289
PR 0044039941
1. I need clarification about the Heavy marine-grade aluminum hull, minimum 0.25-inch thickness. Need to confirm that this is in reference to the bottom only or bottom and sides?
Answer: Bottom only
2. I did have one question regarding the square-bow V-hull requirement. Our boats are built with a square bow and flat bottom with corrugations in the hull for added strength. This design provides excellent stability and allows the boat to operate in approximately 5-6 inches of water.
Would our square-bow, flat-bottom design be acceptable for this bid, or are you specifically requiring a V-hull design?
Answer: Requiring a V-hull design because of the environment it will be used in.
