Performance Work Statement (PWS)
United States Geological Survey (USGS) Store Military Verification Service
140G0124Q077
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. USGS, through the Science Information Delivery Branch (SID) needs to verify eligibility of applicants applying for the America the Beautiful Military Pass (annual pass). Eligible applicants are current U.S. Military, U.S. Military dependents, and U.S. Military Veterans.
B. Since May 2021 the USGS, SID has partnered with a 3rd party vendor to perform information verification. Customers data is sent to the 3rd party through an Application Programming
Interface (API) call from the USGS Store to perform information verification. Those customers that cannot be verified are given an error message and given more attempts. If additional information is required, then they can upload proof of eligibility.
C. Military Pass application is submitted online through the USGS Store at www.store.usgs.gov.
D. NPS and SID require a verification service as part of the America the Beautiful Military Pass ordering process on the USGS Store. At the beginning of the ordering process, the service will validate the customers’ legal name and verify they meet the current U.S. Military, U.S. Military dependent, or U.S. Military Veteran requirements. The Military Verification service will occur at the beginning of the ordering process. The customer visits the USGS Store and selects Military
Pass. After putting the Military Pass into their shopping cart, the customer is routed to the 3rd party site in a manner seamless to the customer where they provide only the necessary information to verify their eligibility, for example: first name, middle name, last name, address, phone number, and last 4 of Social Security Number. The verification service takes just a few seconds and when the customer’s eligibility is verified, they are directed back to the USGS Store to complete their purchase. The 3rd party vendor sends information proving validation back to the USGS Store. A flowchart showing the process is provided below.
