About this file
This Statement of Work outlines requirements for tree planting services at the Island Unit of Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge in Cass and Morgan counties, Illinois. The contractor must plant 450 containerized trees (5-7 gallon size) across 15 plots totaling approximately 3 acres, at a rate of 150 trees per acre. The plots are located 5-150 meters from the shore within floodplain forest habitat.
The work period is March 24-April 21, 2025, with possible extension if flooding occurs. The contractor must provide all labor, equipment, transportation, and supplies except for the trees, which will be provided by USFWS along with orientation and maps. Access restrictions include driving only on designated roads with remaining access by foot, and boat access is available to the shoreline. Equipment must be cleaned pre-entry to prevent invasive species spread. Payment will be made in full upon completion with no partial payments. The project aims to restore floodplain forest areas impacted by Japanese hop invasion. The included map shows the location of tree planting plots within the refuge unit alongside access roads.
