About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document from a federal solicitation for a chiller system. The document addresses clarifications provided by the buyer in response to vendor inquiries regarding a 120,000 BTU closed-loop chiller requirement.
Key Technical Requirements and Clarifications:
The chiller will be used to cool water in a south-sided incubation room to maintain spring Chinook egg development at a reduced rate. The required set point temperature is 40°F for cooling operations only, with no heating capability needed. The chiller is a closed-loop system that will chill water rather than coolant or oil. Regarding electrical specifications, 460-volt power is acceptable despite the 120,000 BTU chiller not being available in the standard 208-230 volt configuration. The cooling and heating functions will operate independently, with heating not required for this application. The document also notes that vendors who have already submitted bids may revise their quotes through the same email chain with a notation indicating the submission is a revised quote superseding the previous version.

Be sure to include a note indicating that it is a revised quote and that the previous quote is no longer applicable.
May I know the application is for this Chiller? What is the Chiller being used with?
- The chiller is going to be used to chill spring Chinook eggs (slow down development)
What is the Chiller Chilling – water-based coolant, di water or some type of oil.
- The chiller is chilling the water in the south sided incubation room where the spring Chinook eggs will be
Is this requirement for an Open Loop or Closed Loop Chiller?
- Closed loop chiller
Also, the 120,000 BTU Chiller does not come in 208-230 volt electrical. Our only option is 460V. Kindly confirm if that is acceptable.
- 460V should be acceptable
What is the required chiller set point?
- We were hoping to be able to chill the water to 40°F
During heating operation, what set point or target temperature is required?
- We are not planning on heating the water.
Is there a requirement for the system to cool and heat simultaneously, or will these functions operate independently?
- We were not wanting to heat the water, just cool it.
