Capabilities:
The Livingston Stone National Fish Hatchery (LSNFH) collects milt annually from wild-caught Winter run Chinook salmon (WCS) and cryopreserves it to use in the captive winter run programs since late 1990s. For cryopreserving WCS milt, the LSNFH owns two liquid nitrogen (LN2) supply tanks and two storage LN2 Dewars. The existing Dewars are over 15 years old and lack autofill and any kind of low-level LN2 alarm system risking loss of irreplaceable cryopreserved milt. LSNFH will purchase two new storage LN2 Dewars (each with holding capacity 6,000 vials in 6 racks with boxes) with autofill (i.e., tank Controller with temperature display and alarms), and additional low-level LN2 alarm sensor system. The equipment will be professionally installed and programed, and contractor will provide all labor and materials (including new LN2 transfer hoses) required for installation, 48” liquid level measuring stick, LN2 dipper with hook, two roller bases for Dewar tanks, and training to LSNFH staff for operating LN2 storage system.
