About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for the AK SELAWIK NWR STORAGE FACILITY contract opportunity with the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service.

The amendment extends the bid due date from May 24th to May 30th and changes the bid submission time from 4:00 PM to 2:00 PM. It also provides answers to three questions submitted by potential offerors. The first question regards the use of cold patch asphalt for repairs, which the government has approved. The second question is about the crane/hoist requirement, with the government concurring that a monorail or swinging arm hoist would be preferable to a mobile gantry. The third question is about the placement of the crane rail, with the government stating that a single crane rail at the mezzanine opening will be sufficient. The magnitude of construction for this project is between $1M to $5M, and the period of performance is from June 21, 2024 to December 30, 2025.

government concurred. We do not think a gantry would work well for this setup. The legs of the gantry will take up space on the floor below and with a cantilever design needed to access the mezzanine above it will be hard to move around in the shop. We believe the best design to make this work would be a monorail attached to the roof, this will open space up on the floor and keep the hoist up and out of the way. Do you concur?

Answer: Yes FWS concurs. FWS attempted to remove the mobile gantry from the bridging documents. A mono-rail or a swinging arm with hoist are two alternatives preferred by FWS.

3. It was also mentioned the user would like the hoist to be used in one of the service bays. Will the one crane rail placed at the mezzanine opening gate work for this purpose or will the government want a second crane rail parallel to that service bay (perpendicular to the rail servicing the mezz)?

Answer: One crane rail in the bay that would allow something to be hoisted up from the bay and on to the mezzanine will be sufficient.

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
