About this file

This document contains Amendment 0001 to Solicitation No. 140FC324Q0018 titled "CA-FWS Kern NWR-New Stocker Well". The amendment provides responses to two questions related to the statement of work (SOW).

The first question asked why the government wants a well depth of 300 feet when surrounding wells are 490 to 1200 feet deep. The response explains that the historical water table data indicates the water supply can be found around 250 feet, so 300 feet is the planned design depth. However, the procurement includes an optional task for additional drilling depth beyond 300 feet at a linear foot cost, if required. This well is for a low-volume water supply for seasonal cattle grazing, not agricultural production.

The second question asked about the magnitude of construction, which the response states is between $100,000 and $250,000, inclusive of options, per FAR 36.204(c).

Amendment 0001

Sol. No. 140FC324Q0018

Title: CA-FWS Kern NWR-New Stocker Well

1. Question 1: Why in the SoW does the GOV want a depth of 300’ when all the surrounding wells are 490 to 1200’ deep?

Response to Question #1: The USFWS’s historical data indicates that the water table at this proposed location is around 250’ so we are expecting to hit a sufficient water supply within the planned design depth of 300’. In the event a sufficient water supply is not encountered within the 300’, the procurement has an optional task that provides for additional drilling depth at a linear foot (LF) cost. Upon award, the contracting officer will provide the contractor approval to drill beyond the 300’ if required up to a maximum depth. Please note, This well is not for agricultural production, it is a very low volume well to provide water for water troughs for seasonal cattle grazing from Nov – Apr.

2. Question 2: What is the magnitude of Construction?

FAR 36.204(c) between $100,000.00 - $250,000.00 This amount is inclusive of options
