SCOPE OF WORK
Replace Infiltration Gallery #2 VFD Pump
Winthrop National Fish Hatchery US Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 8
Revised April 2026
1. GENERAL
The US Fish and Wildlife Service, Winthrop National Fish Hatchery in Winthrop, WA, is in need of a pump and motor replacement at Infiltration Gallery #2 (IG2). IG2 provides the facility with up to 4500 gallons per minute of filtered ground water, making its continued operation critical to support fish life at the facility.
Winthrop National Fish Hatchery (WNFH) is a salmon and steelhead facility located in north central Washington State, on the Methow River, near the town of Winthrop, WA. Fish production is reliant on ground water supplied by the hatchery’s three infiltration galleries. This project is to remove and replace the existing pump and motor at Infiltration Gallery #2. Work for this project may include handling or working near hazardous materials, such as used oil.
Infiltration Gallery #2 is typically operating 365 days per year and is the only ground water line that supplies the adult holding facility. Removing and replacing the pump and motor will require coordination with hatchery staff to minimize disruptions to operations. The Contracting Officer or designated COR will conduct a Preconstruction Conference at a convenient time to both the Contractor and the Government, to determine the ideal construction work window.
2. SCOPE
The objective of this project is to carry out necessary maintenance to IG2 while adhering to relevant regulations and standards. Work must comply with American Water Works Association Standards
(AWWA)
