FWS – Removal and Replacement of Above Ground Diesel Storage Tank – RFQ Questions (140F1B23Q0007)

Solicitation (RFQ) Questions and Responses:

1. Can you give me the exact address number other than PO Box where the tank would be delivered?

The address is for where the tank will be delivered is:

Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery 7030 Bears Bluff Road Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487

2. How much fuel will be left in the tank?

Unknown. The tank capacity is 500 gallons. Once the work is scheduled, we will not fill the tank unless more fuel is needed for vehicles or potential emergency situations (tropical systems in the area). Before the start date, we will top off all of our equipment that uses diesel fuel in order to reduce the amount of fuel in the tank as much as possible.

3. Does the solicitation call for all of the tanktop equipment to be stainless steel, including risers?

Yes. If you want to propose parts in material other than stainless steel, please clearly state substitutions in your quote as suggested in the SOW (First section under “Quotes should include the following”, last bullet point).

4. Is there a specific reason that all the fittings and spill containment box are required to be stainless steel?

The tank is located less than 15 feet from the salt marsh. All tank top equipment will be exposed to salt spray in this environment. If you want to propose parts in material other than stainless steel, please clearly state substitutions in your quote as suggested in the SOW (First section under “Quotes should include the following”, last bullet point). Please note that if material is not stainless steel, it still must provide some level of protection from salt spray.

5. Can you clarify what you mean by anti‐siphon hose? Are you referring to the dispensing hose or an anti‐siphon kit for pump?

Anti‐siphon kit for the pump.

6. Do you want hose mast, so hose is not laying on ground?

Yes.

7. Can paint color be white?

Yes.

8. How much fuel will be left in the tank to be pumped out and stored?

9. Will the fuel need to be tested/sampled before returning to tank?

No, but it does need to be filtered to a level that protects fuel system components.

10. Will you specify exactly which tank top equipment parts you want to be stainless steel?

All tank top equipment. If you want to propose tank top parts in material other than stainless steel, please clearly state substitutions in your quote as suggested in the SOW (First section under “Quotes should include the following”, last bullet point). The tank is located less than 15 feet from the salt marsh. All tank top equipment will be exposed to salt spray in this environment. Please note that if material is not stainless steel, it still must provide some level of protection from corrosion due to salt spray.

11. What are the supply and return lines made out of (Flex pipe, copper, SS, ect) going from tank to generator?

Supply and return lines are ¾” flex diesel fuel hose. They are in a fiberglass shroud between the fuel tank and the adjacent building where supply/return lines are run to.

12. Diameter of supply and return lines?

Both are ¾” hose
