Questions and Responses 1-Aug-22 Amendment No. 1 to Solicitation
No. Question and/or Notes Response Date of Posting
1 Will you consider a manufacturer using an L/360 deflection requirement instead of the L/800 for the bridges?
Yes, the USFWS will consider an alternate L/360 Deflection Requirement. Refer to Revised SOW, which now allows for this option. To Be Determined.
Will you consider a manufacturer using the Allowable Stress Design (ASF) Methodology using ASCE-7 Load Combinations instead of the AASHTO guidelines. This would allow the finite element analysis to meet Factors-of- Safety to be 2.0 for the loads specified under the Salient Characteristics?
Yes, the USFWS will consider an alternate Design Methodology in lieu of Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD). Allowable Stress (Strength) Design (ASD) will be considered acceptable with the use of ASCE Standard 7 Load Combinations. Refer to Revised Technical Specifications, which allows for this change.
To Be Determined.
