U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Invasive Species Prevention Signs Scope of Work
August 21, 2019
John Klavitter, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) has a need for the manufacture and shipping of invasive species prevention signs. There are 2 different designs for the signs (Figure 1, boat ramp sign; Figure 2, trailhead sign). The Service will provide the manufacturer with high quality .pdf (other if requested) electronic files of the signs. Signs will be made from the highest quality materials available to ensure longevity and to resist fading and peeling due to sunlight, UV, salt spray, and extreme environmental conditions. Signs will be 11″ × 14″ in size and fabricated from aluminum 6061-T6 or T3 alloy as per ASTM B209, to meet or exceed standards as specified in FP-85 Section 71 9.03. The thickness shall be 0.063”. Surface of the signs must be commercially flat and free of buckles, warps, dents, cockles, burrs, and any fabrication defects.
Dimensions for panels must have a tolerance of +0.125″ or below. Signs will have 3/8″ diameter holes (2) 12″ on center (for mounting purposes), and 1″ safety radius corners on all sides (specification from the Service 2019 Sign Handbook). The signs will be reflective using either 3M Engineer – Grade, Prismatic (EGP) 3430 series or High Intensity Prismatic (HIP) 3900 series vinyl. Signs will be warranted as free of manufacturer’s defects for a period of 7 to 10 years from the original date of receipt. This warranty will cover delamination of facing materials, legibility, severe fading, loss of reflectivity, and premature weathering. The Service will provide the manufacturer an Excel spreadsheet showing the number of signs that need to be shipped to each Service location. The manufacturer will ship out the signs within 12 weeks of receiving the location information. It is anticipated that signs will be mailed to as many as 150 locations.
Additional signs will be sent to Regional and Headquarters staff in case signs need to be replaced or additional facilities need signage. Providing an average price to ship per location is acceptable.
The approximate total number of signs needed is 2,350:

o 1,100 signs.

o 1,250 signs
