Questions & Answers for Solicitation 140A1624Q0039 Design & Installation of Museum Storage Space for OTS DESCRM
1. Will you extend the due date for quotes to 4/19/2024?
A: Yes
2. Can the government provide a list of arti facts to be stored?
A: See attached Excel spreadsheet. Approximately 57 percent of our collections are fine art/ framed art, 34 percent are 3-D objects, and 9 percent are flat 3-D textile objects that can be rolled (textile roll rack). There is a need for a new compact art rack system and a compact art till storage system. There are over 700 framed art that are less than 14 x 24 inches.
3. What is the ceiling height in the space?
A: Ceiling height in room is almost 12 feet. There are low hanging light fixtures, light fixture height from floor is 9 feet.
4. Please provide drawings and elevations of the existing shelving and compact system that needs to be removed and/or relocated.
A:
· Metal shelving, 7 units: 8 x 4 x 3 feet. These would need to be dismantled and placed in an office on the 4th floor for storage.
· Wire shelving, 4 units: 7 x 3 x 4 feet. These would need to be dismantled and placed in an office on the 4th floor for storage.
· Compact art rack: 8 x 11 x 12 feet. This unit would need to be completely removed and discarded. There is no dumpster on-site.
5. Is there a dumpster on site for the material being removed or will this need to be taken off site?
A: This needs to be taken off-site.
6. Can any of the 3-D objects be stored on open shelves with lips or do these all need to be stored in museum cabinets?
A: There are two large-oversized boxes (50 x 36 inches) that can be stored on open shelves. For the most part, if we can have museum cabinets along one wall of our collection room that would be preferrable.
7. What % of the collection that needs to be stored in cabinets will be housed on shelves versus drawers?
A: 34 percent are 3-D objects.
8. Are there any stairs between where the product would be received and installed?
A: There are no stairs. The collection room is near the loading dock on the same floor level.
